Big Smoke and Mirrors
« on: August 11, 2005, 01:23:55 AM »
I've found blackburn type folding mirrors to be indispensable when riding in the big smoke.  Being able to quickly fold them down to get between cars blocking my way is great.  I've recently discovered that if you tape one of those tiny LED lights to the end of your mirror it is great at night.  Seems to keep passing traffic quite a bit further away from you.  I have it facing backwards for passing traffic, but you could have it forwards if you prefer, or one light each way even, if you really want to get carried away.

Interesting!  I live in a very quiet place, the Isle of Man, and cycling through cities to an EBE pick up point scares me witless.  A mirror will have to be given more consideration.

"Danlite" is another option, but the mirrors are fantastic.  Obviously traffic side mirror is most important.

I use a Reevu helmet with a built in rear view mirror and is fantastic as long as you do not use dropbars, are lost without it in heavy traffic.
