Election time is a great opportunity to do some heavy duty lobbying to improve the lot of cyclists. From 7 May we're likely to have a whole bunch of new MPs and local counselors who are there to represent us. I work for government and know that when members of the public write in to complain or make a suggestion, someone has to spend time writing a reply. If enough people write, the civil servants start thinking it would be easier to recommend a change in policy rather than keep answering the letters.
So if you are sick of all the potholes, or want that cycle lane on your route to school or work. Pick up a pen and write - and get your friends and family to write also.
