rim wear with rohloff

hi,
i wanted to ask you what happens when the time has arrived to change the rim but you happen to be in an undeveloped country.
do they have 32 holes rims and isnt it too complicated to build a wheel over a rohloff?
also, has anyone here had to be sent a new rohloff or a complete wheel while touring abroad (assuming you have thorn bike)?

If you can get hold of a replacement rim that is close enough to your existing rim so you don’t need different length spokes you can use the techniques in this article to swap them over.

Rims take a while to reach the point of failure so if you can’t get the right sized one locally you can have one shipped out to meet you somewhere.

How important rim wear is for a particular trip really depends on where you are going, the riding conditions there and how long the tour is. If you know you will be riding for a long long time somewhere that replacement rims are not likely to be found than you may want to consider using specialized rims that wear very slowly so that you won't have to deal with replacements on your trip.
