I wanted faster tyres for commuting in the summer. I was going to get the thinest panaracer ones as I like the panaracers that came with my Adventure tour. Thorn instead reccomended the vredstein s-licks as they are more durable which suits my needs. (S-licks is a silly name because they do have a slight tread pattern).
They are fast, very durable and corner well. However, in emergency braking situations they skid very easily. To be fair I have never fallen but the front wheel has skidded whenever I have emergency braked. I did not have this problem with the panaracers and have used racing bikes with down to 18mm front tyre without experiencing any difficulties.
Has anyone else noticed this?
What do you use when you want a bit more speed?
