Humbrol colour codes
« on: January 07, 2008, 10:30:37 PM »
Does anyone have information on the Humbrol paint colour codes for Thorn's paint? I need the codes for Thorn's navy blue and ivory paints - especially the navy blue.

My Nomad frame is now several years old and sporting a large chip in the paintwork on one of the seat stays where something has obviously rubbed in transit.

Unforutnately I didn't think to purchase some cans of the Humbrol touch up paint when I bought the frame or to take a note of the Humbrol colour codes (which I recollect used to be listed on the web site). Thorn have replied to my emails seeking the colour codes promptly, but have been unable to give me the information I need.

It appears I can purchase the paint online from SJSC, but freight to Australia will double the price. If needs be that's what I'll do, but I thought I'd try this Forum to see if anyone had the Humbrol codes first.

Your help would be  appreciated.

Best wishes, Russell.

Hello,
I needed a Humbrol touch up for my Audax 853, but Thorn tell me that the colours are not Humbrol for this bike. However I did find what I thought was a match, and indeed at first it looked OK but after a few Months its noticeably different. Its a tiny chip on the top tube.
Try a local or further afield maybe, Motor factor who paints cars, they should be able to help.
John.

Thanks for the replies. I especially appreciated the code for the Humbrol ivory gloss.
SJSC has sent me further information indicating HU015 (Humbrol's midnight blue gloss) is most likey the Thron navy blue.
Andy Blance is unavailable to confim that advice since he is currently touring in India. Lucky Andy!!

Thanks again and best wishes, Russell
