NEW brake lever for V & Drops

The RL520 from Tektro
Has anyone any info on this brake lever?  How does it compare to the DiaCompe 287V.  It is about time we had some choice!

I know this works great because I saw a bike with them recently. After conversation with said bikes owner, he was very impressed.

I'm not only going to replace them, I'm going to smash them into tiny fragments of low-grade alloy.

got any idea where i might buy them,how much are they.
are they better than shimano leavers.

I just got my Tektro levers from SJSC.

First impression is that they look and feel superb.  Much nicer and wider body makes me think they will be comfier.

The brake cable-outer will run right inside the brake hood which gives a, seemingly, straight line to the lever.  No stupid 'Noodle' to mess about with.

I'll probably fit them tonight and test them tomorrow.  They need to be pretty dreadful for me to re-fit the 287Vs.  I am confident that they will be better in every way. 

Only £15 a pair so can't complain.

Very nice indeed.

Braking power is increased and they are just a better quality item.

My hands need time to adjust to different size and shape but I remember the same feeling when I got the Dia Compe 287v.

Check out the difference in the 2 levers.  Remember that the Tektros are half the price of the 287v !

I've been using the Tektro brake levers on my V-braked equipped Fixie - They are far better than the Dia-Compe 287V both to set up & for braking ! They have a built in QR button like Campag B/levers too...
Recommended.

The strange thing is, that I use Diacompe V levers on two of my Thorns, with great success. I have not been able to find fault with them ever-except maybe the cost. Tektro should be pleased!

Well mine always worked and never broke but I just can't figure what was going thru their heads when they designed them.  Introducing a 'noodle' to feed the brake cable into the lever seems so redundant and introduces losses at a couple of points.

The real test of course is that first squeeze of the Tektros.  They are noticeably more effective and smooth.
