No need to apologize.  No offense taken.

When e-mail first became available (yes, I am really that old) my employer at the time gave everyone in the organization an e-mail address that started with the first five letters of your last name followed by your first initial.  I have often used that (mickeg) as my default on-line name if nobody else has already taken it.
