How do you do it? I know its something to do with finding things by their location co-ordinates.

For many years, I ran a "trapline" of 25 geocaches for people to find. It was fun.

I finally gave up because the maintenance was too high. People either cleaned out the goodies or vandalized the caches.

I still occasionally seek them while cycling. It is a fun pursuit and quickly improves or maintains a person's GPS skills.

Best,

Dan.

I use an Etrex20 - GPS handheld device.
Put in the geocash details at home and then follow the directions. The GPS takes me pretty close - 6' or so. And then hunt around for the box or cannister. Inside is a small note book and fun items.
Back home log the find.
Basic version is free but an upgrade gives you more access to other options.
I'm on the basic version but may treat myself to a 3 month upgrade. That is about £8.
Best try it out. I think some good phones allow you to find the geocash. So no need to buy a new GPS.
Frustrating when you can't find the Flippin thing but fantastic when you can.

I did it for a few years with my son.  It's a great way of getting computer obsessed, gadget driven teenagers outdoors for walks.  To be honest I really enjoyed it.  Some of the finds are very clever especially the tiny magnetic ones.

Yes indeed. It does get you out and about.
A secondary reason for me was the need to get a grip of ( to me at least ) new technology.
It took me a while but I enjoyed the learning curve required to effectively use the Etrex20.
For the same reason  have recently started twitting. 😉

It sounds interesting and yes it would get me out. I don't have a GPS but I do have an app on my smart phone (don't we all ::))
