Title: New Rohloff user --- trouble shifting to gears below 4

hello all,
i just got my new thorn nomad last night. i made sure the shifter was on gear 14 and then hooked the cable box. then tightened the thumbscrew. i can't however shift to any gear below a 4. essentially, i have only 11 gears (4-14) working.

any suggestions?

try shifting to 14, unhooking the ex box, move shifter back 4 places and reconnect the ex box. as the hub may have not been in the gear you thought it was to begin with

With the ex box unhooked, try turning the gear selector bolt with a spanner.
You should be able to engage all 14 gears - if so the previous poster has the answer.
If not the hub/wheel will need returning.

Thanks, all! I followed your tips and the Rohloff manual (which I should have read first). Vik also posted a response to the same question on his blog. The problem has been rectified :)
