How far did you pedal your Thorn in 2009?
« on: January 04, 2010, 10:56:47 am »
Following on from the same question for 2008.......

This year for me and my RT it was 4600 give or take a few, I had less time than last year due to an Open University course (maths, statistics etc., my interest in numbers is not isolated to cycle computers for those who wonder about the point of them!)

It remains my most used bike (i have a £10 Sturmey hubbed hack for popping to the shops etc. and a yet-to-be-ridden road bike for audax) and i love it!

Happy riding 2010 to one and all!

I don't use a cycle computer but I once calculated my yearly mileage is about 4000 Miles.  About 3/4 of this is my commute to work,  I managed to cycle every (work) day through 2009 - even through the ice & snow  :o  (I don't have a car so no option really!)

I'm about 3000 miles a year.  Less touring in 2009 unfortunately but commuted every day.  A few miles also on my dahon mu when I needed to use the train.

I achieved my target a few days before Christmas: 3004 miles in the calendar year.
This was mostly racked up on my 12 mile/day commute, with a few weekend leisure rides thrown in.
This makes 2009 my most cycled year, 10% up on my previous best year.

Sadly, the icy weather, work commitments (requiring me to take the car) and a niggling sore throat after Christmas meant that I didn't manage to do any more miles in the last two weeks of the year.  Oh well, I guess that means I can target an even better year for 2010!

Happy New Year's cycling to one and all,

Simon.

I received my RT on 15th November and I've done 930km since.  My Cannondale Six13 has done a few hundred in that time as well but not as many as it should have....naughty RT keeps stealing my attention.

For the year I have no idea but it's usually 100-150km per week commuting on the RT and prior to that the Cannondale T1.
I did about 1300km on a Giant XTC Advanced MTB for the Tour de Timor http://garysandyperkins.blogspot.com/2009/09/first-day-is-over-but-why-do-i-feel.html.  I bought it two weeks before the event and sold it the week after......my wife works in a bike shop and that makes her the best wife in the world :)
On the Six13 I usually do the Saturday group ride 80-100km and maybe a crit during the week but I haven't raced since the Tour de Timor but that is a whole other story.

Cheers

Updated today. I had my car MOT due. The car passed for 3rd Year in a row with no problem. Mileage for the year was 3074 miles! Get that.

I was going to go to the seaside today. But its snowed a great deal and my poor Mercedes is hidden under a pile of white stuff!
My wife is out clearing the front and rear paths to the house. She is very helpful.

Low mileage year for me, a total of around 6,000 miles of which just over half were on the Raven.
I diliberatly cut the distance down this year to concentrate on going faster, I've raised my average speed from 12 to 14mph.  The theory is that now I should be able to do the longer rides at the faster pace...time will tell ;)
