« on: September 17, 2014, 09:16:47 PM »
Lads I'm on the verge of cracking up,i can't get out on me bike with my back complaint, 2 feckin weeks since i rode it last, the only thing that eases my pain is taking my wife's drugs she suffers with chronic back pain, mine is nowhere  near as bad as hers but man i can now imagine what she must be going through all these years :'(.

i just hope to god this pain eases up enough that i can get to do some work and earn a few bob and allows me to cycle again.
anyway moan over promise i wont mention it again until tomorrow.

Maybe it will help you.

Sure sorry to hear you're going through this continued rough patch, Anto. All thoughts are with you to feel better soonest.

All the best,

Dan. (...who remembers the phrase, "A problem shared is a problem eased" and hopes yours will ease quickly)

Anto --

You also have my best wishes for quick recovery.  I badly sprained my ankle this spring, and was off my bike for almost 2 months, so I know the feeling.  (Although I imagine that a bad back is much worse than an injured ankle.)

Just remember these two things:
1. You will get better.
2. When you get back on your bike, you will appreciate it all the more.

I know how you feel, Anto. Backpain just ruins the quality of your life; it's worse than being seasick, because sooner or later the land has to start again. But eventually it does go away, so try to focus on the rides you will take when you can ride again. I designed a whole triangulated stainless steel bike lying flat on my stomach across the bed, with the computer on the floor in front of my face, because I couldn't bear to sit up. Felt like an idiot, especially when people insisted on visiting and holding conversations with my backside...

Hang in there, mate. Back pain is by far the most debilitating, but it won't improve if you aggravate it. Get expert care and a properly supervised program of rehab, and do what the pretty young things tell you to!

Time to write that great novel, or...

Just don't get too comfortable lallygagging around at home.  ;) ;D

thanks again lads sam i'm getting great treatment from a friend of my son .he's brilliant he cured my feet so hope he can do the same for my back.i'm just in from a walk up by the river    it cracks me up to sit in all day/...
Honesty would you believe i'm actually thinking strongly about this. my friend in the uk rides one he loves them,he spent a week with me here few years back, we toured up to northern ireland had a great time .the speed he could get out of that bent was unreal but died on hills.

Looks tough as nails, and comfortable too, if a bit agricultural in build.

I've never tried a recumbent bike or trike - no opportunity has yet presented itself. But I have heard the comments that they die on hills, and since I need all the help I can get to negotiate hills already, I'm a bit predisposed towards dismissing them. However, the thought of lying back in a human-powered chaise lounge whilst the alter ego does the hard yards is an appealing one, I must admit... ;)

My son  just told me if i were to get a recumbent he would disown me ;D ;D
have to admit they are feckin ugly and could i train my body to get used to riding one cant say i suppose until i actually tried one for a few weeks..

so plan B. ::)
sell my audax as it stands  i'll post a photo on facebook  and maybe Jim or Dan will post it here.
then buy a thorn  raven sports tour straight bars big fat tyres.i'm looking for a bike that will give me super comfort my audax is brilliant but fat tyres will be kind to my aching back.
man i'd die if i had to give up cycling, wow not worth thinking about.but this back problem has been with me years and only in the past few weeks its gotten worse.
im goona try a night spin tonight  im charging up my lights at the moment.don't want to be seen cycling during the day as im off sick, nobody believes in back pain as an excuse to stay off work thats a fact.
so what do you guys reckon on the bike swap am i wasting my time.BTW i dont have a penny piece to do this  but thats when i'm at my best keeps me ticking over ;D ;D
anto still dreaming.
