A few thoughts, jags, reflecting also on my 3-week ride through parts of denmark, Sweden & Germany -- I'm writing this from my daughter's flat in Berlin.
1) One key question is whether you want a one-person or two-person tent, the issue being space & weight, other things equal. Some people like the larger space of a 2-person tent.
2) I've had good success with an MSR Hubba Hubba, which I've owned for several years. Cost me about C$300-350 new, as I recall. It's a 2-person tent, and packed, it's about 2.5kg, maybe a little less. It has 2 doors & 2 vestibules, and this space is really handy. The one big problem I've had is condensation -- the fly is not vented. A lesser problem is that it's difficult (not impossible) to pitch the tent fly-first; and also to take it down inner tent first. I have often used the fly alone, with a fitted footprint. this worked well, out of the bug season.
3) Not sure if the Hubba Hubba is still sold -- I recall reading that MSR had taken it off the market. MSR do market a tent called the Nook, a 2-person front-entry item, with a vented flysheet. I've seen good reviews of that.
4) There's an outfit in California, Tarptents, which sells ultra-light shelters (online only). I'm thinking of getting one of their lightweight 1-person tents for next year (either the DW Moment, all 1 kg of it, or the Scarp 1, a few ounces more). You can pitch these with inner & outer tents together, similar to Hilleberg. Prices are slightly higher than MSR, less than Hilleberg. They are advertised as having 4-season capability, but I'd use one only for 3-seasons.
Hope that's helpful, and good luck!
J.
