a 420-speed bicycle?...

(1/1)

Annapurna1:
is this at least theoretically possible with a rohloff (or similar) hub..and has anyone tried to do it?...and if not with a rohloff..then has anyone constructed a 150- (resp 240-) gear system with a 5- or 8- speed hub?...thx...

freddered:
I haven't and neither have any of my friends or family members.  I'll let you know the moment any of them do though.

PS.  Inform the Nurse that your medication has worn off and you're out of bed messing with her PC again.

Don’t think it is possible to fit a normal cluster to a Rohloff. If you could you would have to increase the rear dropout spacing.  Saying all of that I have got a feeling that Sheldon Brown has done it (couldn't find it on his site.)

Don't know why you would want to do it, as you would end up with a VERY complicated gearshift, less reliability and dreadful gear overlap.  The 14 equally spaced gear ratios on the Rohloff are more than enough for most of us!
