Thorn Raven 530L

Hi All,

Visited Thorn, Bridgewater with the intent on buying a Sherpa.

Tried the Rohloff Raven, and now thinking - got to have one of those....

Interested to see what might be on offer out there.

Hi Greg and welcome to the forum. The sherpa and the Tour are both fantasic bikes and to all intents and purposes apart from the different drive trains are the same bike. I have both bikes (atleast very similar (older models)) and love them both. The Rohloff version just needs less maintenace and does not care about what conditions I ride through. The Sherpa is just as good but needs care and attention and lots of cleaning of the drive train to keep it ticking along as smoothly as the Tour.

If I had to choose one it would be the tour.

Not many Tours come up on the market. I have seen one 530L come up for sale in the last year and about 10 tours in total. You may be lucky but you may have a long wait ahead

yeah my sherpa with its shimano xt drivetrain is a class bike never had one problem with it,if i had the dosh i would be buying one of there lovely audax bikes .
