Final resting place...by bicycle!
« on: May 20, 2013, 04:52:51 PM »
Hi All!

Thought you might enjoy this local story that seems to have "gone viral" in the bikeosphere the last couple days:
http://www.kval.com/news/business/Bicycle-hearse-offers-one-last-ride-to-final-resting-place-207791931.html

The way people are driving 'round here, I may get the same treatment for free whilst riding in traffic. :P

Best,

Dan.

I always thought it would be being crunched by a steel lorry on the road to work, with the driver reacting the way to what's left as you would do with a big fly on the windscreen, then being dumped on the back of it with the bike and melted down with it causing some rather unusual impurities in the resulting steel...and everybody wondering what happened to me  ;D

#horror fantasies from big lorries going much too fast there luckily road is wide

I like the basket coffin it makes no sense to me to put something un-recyclable into the soil. You can get tree kits for ashes too, put the ashes with the soil (for nitrogen) and put seed in, watch direct carbon re-use.

In the past we'd be buried with our bikes for the afterlife  ;D

What d'you mean, "in the past"? Of course I'm going to be buried with my bike, just like my ancestors were. Aren't you?

Ah it's just going to rust eventually even with Thorns rust proofing, wouldn't fancy being buried with a Crabon or aluminum bike  ;D

We'll also need to bury a bike mechanic with his/her tools then...I mean what else are you going to do unless nothing breaks in the Eternal Cycling Plains :p

On an aside, a picture of the first owner of a frame the manfriend has, now long dead, led to a discussion on what happens to our goods when we die and who would get what. As our bikes will, if treated well, survive us. That which doesn't live, cannot die to get a tad philosophical on the Friday night.

Maybe you just want to get buried with your bike cos you don't want others to have it :P
