Brooks issue a new Despatch for Apr 2013
« on: April 17, 2013, 07:25:24 PM »
Hi All!

Brooks have just issued the latest edition of their Despatch for viewing online here: http://us1.campaign-archive2.com/?u=779d0fc02cc4843db052687bf&id=9d3f941368&e=9fe9e6dc64

Featured in this edition:
• Brooks are about to offer their new vegan saddle, the Cambium C17 and are offering tester slots here: http://www.brooksengland.com/cambium !!! Those who register will receive a 10% discount or the Brooks online shop !!! I found their site has some damaged links and timeout issues this go'-round, so please be patient when viewing, particular with the email verification link for the discount.

The blog features the following:
        • Announcement of the upcoming Brooks Dashing Bike Show – Washington, D.C.
        • Brooks support for upcoming calendar events in May, including this one...
Quote
Last year’s WCR Grand Tour champion Mike Hall is coordinating the Transcontinental this summer. An unsupported competitive ride between London and Istanbul will see racers tough it out in the Alps en route to Turkey under a doubtless blazing August sun. We disclosed the details of our likely involvement earlier in the year, and are happy to report that around 40 racers are already confirmed, among them Juliana Buhring, who as a WCR rider last year set the Guinness record for circumnavigation by a female.
        • New onsite chat feature for instant support related to questions regarding Brooks products.
        • Announcement of Brooks' new Peter and Flopsy saddles, ideal for cold weather, short-hop bicycle commuting. Bunny-lovers will go  :o, but it is an April Fools' joke so all's well <whew!>. ;D See: http://blog.brooksengland.com/wps/introducing-the-brooks-2013-special-editions-peter-flopsy/
        • Germany has instituted a 30kph speed limit on bike lanes...with €5 tickets issued to violators: http://blog.brooksengland.com/wps/speeding-tickets-in-the-post-for-german-cyclists/
        • 2014 Scott, Craig And Gavin tribute ride in honor of Sir Hubert Opperman 1934 LeJog effort: http://blog.brooksengland.com/wps/the-1934-oppy-end-to-end-tribute-ride/
        • Brooks pannier touring-test in the American Southwest: http://blog.brooksengland.com/wps/jason-childers-road-tests-our-panniers/

So, while not as complete as past Despatches, a bit of fresh reading and a chance for a 10% discount. Not a bad exchange for an online registration.

Best,

Dan.

That didn't take too long; Brooks' server couldn't handle the demand and crashed. If you want the 10% discount, you'd best wait a bit to apply, else the connection will time out.

The still all-time best deal on Brooks saddles is Thorn's option when purchasing a new bike. Can't beat it!

Best,

Dan.

I just tried several times to check on Brooks luggage and couldn't get past the opening page. Thanks for the explanation. -- AJ

Ha ha. I read this the wrong way! It will take some convincing for my wife to agree for me to purchase a new bike from Thorn to get the best deal on a Brooks!

Matt...whatcha do is tell her Thorn is selling Brooks saddles...and throwing in a bike for a nominal upcharge.

Yeah, that'll work!  ;D

Mighty pretty saddle you ordered, Pete!

Dunno what to think about their new vegan saddle. It isn't leather at all!

All the best,

Dan.
