Mileage geeks here?
« on: November 03, 2013, 11:02:11 am »
I have been keeping a record of my daily and monthly milage for 2 and a half years.
Nice to know how long tyres have lasted and other bits on the bike.

Having semi retired 3 months ago I have manged out at more on the Raven.
October was a PB for me with 825 miles clocked up.
Previous months have averaged 250.

Anyone else here keep stats like that?

Matt- who knows its not a race, more an adventure.

I've been keeping records for the last three years, since retirement. I do between 350 and 450 miles per month. In the summer I do a couple of tours of around 300miles each. Hope to do 5000 miles this year.

Yeah I find that keeping track helps motivate me. I have all sorts of dreams but life keeps getting in the way!

I use mapmyride.com to maintain my mileage tally. When I plot the route, which I commonly do, it will compute the total climbing. But it doesn't show me the total climbing for the month. That would be fun to track, too.

I climbed a new hill today. Not a long ride, but the mileage doesn't tell the whole story!

I started keeping a simple spreadsheet in 1995...

It has evolved into a less simple (but not particularly sophisticated) XL file that plots daily mileage, Year to Date, corresponding date last year, which bike, chain life, Audax distance and a couple of other things. All quite useful, particularly plotting time and average speed over the same rides and comparing them with previous years.

We've moved from Perth, to Sydney, and to 3 different addresses in Brisbane during that time though so I can't directly compare performance this year against 18 years ago.

On the other hand, I don't need a spreadsheet to see the hand of time is beginning to pull on the back of my jersey....
