Well you may have read that I build up over night a Cargo Bike as my Work/Market Day.
(Someone said about its getting a little cool here in New Zealand!) So my build up was NOT out in a shred but inside the home 

Please note: It is not as good as a Thorn Nomad in Handling  O' well? that's Life

An ever-so-gentle reminder Thorn have kindly and generously provided this space for us as a mutual resource with company support, so the focus is primarily on Thorns and their related uses and employment; in payment, we should be thoughtful to keep things generally Thorn-centered brandwise except where they might overlap in content (i.e. Rohloff gearing, general touring, etc.) else it become yet another General Bike Forum.

Pete,

That Middleburn chainring with your name/logo is really something, and an awfully good theft deterrent. I had much the same thought when I engraved the quill handlebar stems or cranks on some of my other bikes for personalization and theft deterrence. Things like stems and chainrings are essential components, cannot be immediately removed (it takes a bit of work, and must be replaced for the bike to function), and would require a thief to put in a bit of effort to disguise their ill-gotten gains.

Besides, it looks really nice.

What a wonderful steed Pete. Just the ticket for ferrying your wares to market. Its good to see a bike on the forum that is designed for a use other than touring, audaxing etc. The appeal of commuting/utility bikes is increasing so your's must surely or even surly be setting the benchmark. Hmm, which of the Thorn stable could be a utility bike? I think there used to be a Commuteur (sp) that must have been designed with that in mind.

I dearly wish Thorn had something like this among their offerings...biplate fork crown, .9/.6/.9 tubing, Rohloff or derailleur gearing, and experience building tandems that might well carry over.

Chris (from Puresports) Has been looking and I would fit I had not Laced up my rear wheel so fast

Yes if only there is a Thorn like (better) then my new Dummy  
Why?
Because Thorn Biplate Forks ride far better!, Because Thorn use far better steel!, A Thorn will not flex like the Dummy!
Why Not?
Why would Thorn not work any? Because my new Dummy is dated 2007 (?) so old stock and you can not make money with stock just sitting around! Because a Dummy is made to fit a Rohloff Hub too? But no where as good as a Thorn Rohloff set up!

Saying all that I would replace it with a Thorn at the drop of the Hat if Thorn started making some in small numbers.

Hi All
Today I got a Body Geometry Fit
(This is the same Body Geometry Fit that the Pro riders get for the likes of TDF, over four hours today)

So Why? Well I have my left leg 8mm longer then my right leg! this has made for a lot of pain over the years in my knee's! Why?

Because if I had my seat at the right height for my Left leg then I got pain in my right Knee! and If I had my seat at the right height for my Right leg then I got pain in my Left leg!

So I always set my Seat/Saddle in the middle and just put up with any pain that can along on long cycle rides.

So How is the set up after the BG Fit? Well my Saddle is over 20mm higher, My left SPD cleat is 5mm back and My Right SPD cleat is 3mm forward. There is a load more changers to my "Tom" longer stem and placement of seat etc.

I have to go riding and Go back for a recheck in 4 weeks!

Wonderful news for you, Pete; so hope this does the trick and eases your pain while riding.

Unequal leg-length can be a real problem to accommodate when cycling. For many years, T/A's top quill road pedal was available with height-adjustable cages. Some people use unequal-length crankarms, and there have occasionally been "swinging gate" crankarms made for this problem, where the pedal on one side attached to a pivot in the crankarm, allowing the shorter leg to describe a smaller arc.

If you can get there with easier fit adjustments (saddle height, stem adjustments, etc), that will be just outstanding. Yeah! Here's hoping for the best, Pete!
