My changed Nomad

(1/1)

hoogie:
I have put some photos of the new setup on my Thorn Nomad on my website, plus a bit of a narrative on why I changed it too.
After a few days riding the new setup around, it is definitely a lot more comfortable for me and my style of riding ... I have also attached a thin piece of neoprene lashed with windings of insulation tape onto my barends which makes them more shockproof and increases comfort level too ... I am sure there is a commercial product out there that does the same job too!

Hi Hoogie, That is a really nice bicycle. I like the Paul components thumbies - I have just found a pair on ebay, I was thinking of using the Forge Thumbies but they appear to have been dicontinued. Anyway hope you enjoy your adventures on the new steed. Happy cycling.
Ashley.

Stijn:
Hoogie,

Very nice looking bike. What tires are you running, are they Vittorio's? I've been looking for a handlebar with a slight bent like that, were did you get it?

Cheers,

Stijn

hoogie:
hey there,

tyres are Specialised Nimbus EX Armadillo 26x1.5 ... I run these at about 100psi and the bike just flies along ... these wheels are just my commuting/everyday wheels, they are quite lightweight, Mavic X221 rims, 32h LX hubs, black double butted spokes with front radial laced ... I picked them up secondhand off the net quite cheaply ...
My touring wheels are hanging up waiting for the next tour ... Mavic D521 rims, 36h XT hubs, Swiss DT stainless 14g spokes.

I am not sure where I got the bars from ... I think I got from an auction website for $5 ...

cheers,
hoogie

Hi there .... I looked on eBay but found that you could get some for the same price at Speedgoat ...

I was looking for some Forge Thumbies as well, but they aren't being made anymore as the MTBer that worked there has left and they are concentrating on making car bits :o(

The pauls thumbies work better than I had imagined ... very simple and quick.

cheers,
hoogie
