Sheldon Brown's Thorn Raven ...

(1/2) > >>

hoogie:

A very interesting build on a Thorn Raven frame.

LowFlyingHawk:
...an interesting answer to the question of drop bars or straight bars - why not have both?

Istanbul_Tea:
Sheldon is The Man!!

Cephas:
Sheldon pioneered the dual bar concept on an earlier rohloff project, with a Surly Karate Monkey frame. The KM frame comes with both canti and disk brake mounts and Sheldon couldn't make up his mind which brakes he wanted. So he mounted both.

I did the same to my Nomad when I was building it up, just for the hell of it ... I found it to be surprisingly uncomfortable indeed ...
the flat bars were way too high, kind of like biking with your arms straight out in front of you, and the flat bars got in the way when trying to use the drops ... but that was just my impression after a few laps around the back yard ...
Whatever spins your freewheel I say! It would be a boring old world if we all have the same tastes, and as a mate of mine used to say "I'll try anything once, except incest or Morris Dancing!"

cheers,
hoogie
