STOLEN Thorn Club Tour in Bristol

Just to let the forum know that my gunmetal grey Thorn Club Tour was stolen yesterday (12th August 2025) in Bristol.  It's a Mk 4 frame (size 580L) with Hutchinson Touareg 700 x 40mm gravel type tyres (with tan wall) and DT Swiss R460 wheels.  Other distinctive features include the Thorn T-bar accessory (for attaching a handlebar bag) with Klickfix bracket on it.  Black Brooks B17 saddle, Tubus Cargo rear rack, and it currently has a Quadlock bracket on the Thorn flat track straight handlebars (for fixing a mobile phone).  Gear levers are the 'bar end' type, but fitted on to straight handlebars as mentioned.

So where would it end up?   Your favourite internet retailer?

Unless it was stolen by someone who recognises a premium-type brand its quite likely to have been  an opportunist theft by some low-life either to get from A-B or to sell (maybe to feed a habit) Perhaps its worth checking out those er Cash Converter type shops nearby. They're not entirely reputable, allegedly.

Regardless, having your bike stolen is a horrible, horrlble, personal experience. I hope you have some luck and get it back.

I got my bike back after seeing it listed on EBay weeks later.
Had to pay but I did get it back!
Worth a go you setting up a saved search on eBay gumtree and any other auction sites
I know it’s gutting, happened to me 5 times now🙄

It's a horrible feeling, I've lost two, though luckily not recently.  Not much you can do other than keep a look out. 
How well was it locked? That might be an indication of whether they were after your bike or a bike. The saddest thing is there's such an easy market for stolen goods, I'd never consider buying anything I didn't know the history of, yet there seems no shortage of people who'll buy anything if it's cheap enough.

Bad news! So far, I've avoided this problem. I take the precaution of having my bikes logged in at https://www.bikeregister.com/ and get the retail kit which includes a big sticker (which goes in a very visible place) and a registration code sticker (which goes somewhere less obvious). I'm optimistic that this precaution will both be a deterrent and, in event of the bike going astray, may help it get back home. The registration also provides proof of ownership (which I can transfer should I sell the bike).

Sad news.
I've only once had a lost bike and then found it hidden around the corner. Maybe a sick joke but I still recall the intense panic after 8 years.

Why it went missing?
Until it's found all guesses are just that, guesses.
Personally I try not to spend time on that aspect. Concentrating on the search and find aspect.

Move on but don't give up hope.

Yes, it's a nasty feeling, and it's the first bike I've ever had stolen despite commuting by bike since I was 7!!  Clocking into my early fifties now.
Frame number was: CL580L1814
I had it registered on Bike Register, so I've updated it's status to Stolen.
I've also posted about it on the Bristol Cyclists Facebook group, and told various other people in Bristol in the cycling community to look out for it.
Yes, it was locked to a Sheffield stand in a fairly busy public place, during the day etc, so maybe carefully targeted.

Yep, but unfortunately they were wearing face coverings, so not identifiable....
