Was your previous Thorn powder coated?  The two pack enamels they use now are a huge improvement, both in look and durability.  All the colours I've seen have been OK, but the grey is stunning, photos don't do it justice. The colour choices might not be to everyone's taste, but anyone not happy with the quality is unlikely to be satisfied with anything else.

As I recall, Anto, all your Thorns had OEM factory paint jobs. The 853 was Thorn's Red/Blue diagonal livery, probably in wet paint given the age of the bike.

Your later Thorns were powdercoated, spiffed-up by your carefully applied tape, stickers, and decals...I think I remember a blue shield for County Louth on the seat tube and World Championship "rainbow" stripes on the top tube, even some chrome tape bands originally supplied as handlebar finishing tape. All came out very nicely and tastefully.

That Releigh 753, though, as I recall Noel painted it for you. Wonderful red-into-white-into-blue fade. Probably acryllic 2-pack "wet" paint I know for sure it wasn't powdercoat.

Best, Dan.

Cheers Dan I always keep my bikes In Top condition the Raleigh was a class bike but i sold it to a man j
In canada he was delighted with it. My favourite Thorn was the black Audax the Sherpa was a tank no other way to describe it the red and blue audax was to  big for me.that went to a good home as well.
I'm still kicking myself for selling my last audax and all my gear what was j thinking.
You know this is what happens when you tour with a horrible human be careful who you meet on line.
