Interesting to see as there might be a trade off re bottle cages and a frame bag. I’ve recently put a very small one on my Nomad ( just for a pump and tools) but I’m not convinced I can work with it yet. Accessing water bottles and the top tube ( for lifting) are my most immediate concern.

The photo is a screen shot from the web,
I think it’s a Mk1 Raven (aka Rohloff) Nomad S&S frame.

At the following link there is a photo of Tara Weir’s hybrid classic tourer/bike packing setup on her Mk2 Nomad.

Of course, the geometry of the latest Mk 3 Nomsd is different to the earlier types so might give more options.

Accessing water bottles

I have seen custom made frame bags designed to allow use of the two bottle cages in the centre triangle  but not on a Nomad. The size of bottles one could use  I imagine would be limited and the cages would need to be the side entry type.

Here is my Nomad Mk3 size 540L with the Ortlieb Frame Pack in its 6L version. (link to bigger version of photo).

I got the Ortlieb bag because I wanted a roll-top bag. Frame bags with zippers are infamous for breaking.

As one can see, there is room left underneath the bag for mounting my pump.

I don’t use the triangle for water bottles. Instead, I find that feed bags are a superior solution for carrying water bottles. The Decathlon feed bag is cheap, but reliable for the long term, and it can fit even a Nalgene bottle.
