Kangaroo Island - the island outback
« on: October 08, 2022, 12:05:28 am »
Not too many views of the Thorn Nomad as it was the camera stand for much of this tour, but we had a great time touring Kangaroo Island (South Australia) despite some wet weather and the island having had a very wet winter. The National Parks feral pig control program prevented us from revisiting the gloriously remote West Bay Track area.

We were pleasantly surprised to see that recovery from the 2020 bushfires is progressing well, and several locations had greatly improved facilities, in particular much better options for food and supplies at Vivonne Bay and Western KI Caravan Park. KI (as the locals call it) is really an island in the outback. There are only two small towns at the eastern end of the island, plus about three or four other villages. The whole western half of the island is as remote and undeveloped as the true outback regions further to the north in SA. This was the first extended tour on which I have been making use of the GoPro Hero10 for video. Hope you enjoy these videos (sorry if a couple are a bit long).
