Good rack bag needed around size of ortlieb barbag.

Anyone suggest a good rack bag .I did have at one time the carradice but it sway e d the v e lco straps weren't great for keeping it locked down.anyway must be totally waterproof carry wetgear plenty snacks.

I have the Ortlieb trunk bag. It is waterproof, and locks (with a key) securely to a mounting bracket that is clamped to the rack. I am very happy with it. The only downside is that it is a bit pricey.

Thanks David way out of my price range 
looks a great  bit of kit tho.
the ortlieb barbag is great but i can't mount lights on bars  which is a pain as i often do some night cycling .
i have light mounted on forks but i can't adjust them on the move bit of a pain that  .
anyhooo i 'll keep searching tospeak has one but looks bulky  i'm after slim and beautiful and great price.

I found a rack bag more tedious to fasten on and take off than a pannier.
I now use a single pannier for most trips on my Thorn.
Just a thought…

Yes Julian found that with carradice  bag ,i just carry light rain jacket and snacks in barbag and  plenty bit's and pieces to get me out of a hobble..ah maybe i'll stick to what works lights are a problem tho .

If you already have the barbag you can get the seatpost mount if you'd rather have it behind you.
You'll need these two parts (I'm told the Ortlieb fits the Klick Fix, but haven't tried it.)

I use a carradice saddle bag, IMO it can't be beaten for carrying that amount of kit, 1,000s of CTC and Audax riders can't be wrong

PH thanks yeah the bag was good  but  i didn't like the way it was strapped to bike ,when i sold the sherpa i included all the panniers and rackbag .

If you have an Ortlieb pannier, you likely already have a waterproof rack-pack at no additional cost.

Back in 2013, I found I could attach one of my Ortlieb BikePacker panniers to my Nomad's rack-top simply by adjusting the pannier mounting hooks and retaining clips. Just narrow the hooks and point the lower fin directly down in relation to the bag. My pannier rode very securely there even fully loaded and I still use a pannier in this way from time to time if I need a rack pack and expect a lot of rain.

The same can be done with the smaller Ortlieb "front" panniers and the roll-top designs are truly waterproof in this orientation.

Yes, the Ortlieb bar bag fits on the Rixen-Kaul Klick Fix mount. That's what I use.

Anto, I had the same problem on my Nomad, with the bar bag interfering with the headlights. What I did was lower the bar bag by mounting it on a Thorn t-bar and mounting the headlights above the handlebar on an accessory mount. This only works if there is enough space between the bottom of the bag and the front tire so that you can lower the bag.

There are two sizes: 55mm and 105mm, which is the distance from the mount to the bar. The longer the distance, the more your steering is likely to be affected by the weight of the bag, so the shorter bar is usually preferable. However, sometimes the longer bar is needed in order to give enough space for the bag.

For extra space, instead of using the short accessory bar, I cut a 19cm length from the end of one of my old (straight, not drop) handlebars, giving me a 19cm length of 22.2mm straight aluminum bar, and mounted it using two accessory bar mounts. It cuts very nicely on a mitre saw.

There is also an accessory bar that mounts on the top of the steerer, although I have never tried it:
