I was wondering what the Thorn forum thought of this as I thought the £3000 cost was ridiculous.
I always figure the market will decide. If the price is too high, it won't sell. If even one person feels it is worth it to them, it will sell. Sometimes a high price is posted to allow room for negotiation or to create the perception of greater value.
There's lots of people who value things so highly they never sell. On the other hand, there's those who start with low opening bids and only get a single bid and end up giving away something valuable. It happens both ways.
When I go to sell things on eBay, I take an average of closing prices for completed sales of similar or identical items over the last 90 days or so as my hoped-for price. I set my opening bid for the minimum I will accept and then hope for the best.
Living on the Other Side of the Pond where Thorns are scarce as hen's teeth and the cost of transoceanic and (sometimes) transcontinental shipping and customs and the difference in currency exchange rates must be added, I am always amazed at the comparatively low prices they bring in the UK used market.
It will be interesting to see how this goes.
All the best,
Dan.
