Double-back Thorn tandem and similar
« on: May 14, 2016, 07:54:28 am »
Hi All!

Watching evening network television here in America this week, I saw an Advil (a brand of OTC analgesic) commercial I *thought* featured the notable Thorn upright back-to-back tandem from 2008.

Here is the Thorn video of their tandem...

And here is a roughly similar one in the Advil commercial at the 11-12 second mark...

Unfortunately, it appears to be *another* yellow upright back-to-back tandem -- what are the chances?

I wonder whatever happened to Thorn's version? It was Rohloff-equipped, while the "Advil" version used a derailleur drivetrain and the rearframes and details differ.

Best,

Dan.

This video follow on from that Thorn Janus man tandem one; sorcery indeed. Anyway, this one shows two newly-wed Australians cementing their union ( careful now!) by cycling over some high passes in India. It really is a good watch. As the Oz blokes would say 'She's a Keeper, Mate'

I saw that painkiller TV ad too, but I did not realize that a Thorn tandem had been set up for a rear facing stoker.

At this video, the bikes are not Thorns and these bikes only have one crankset and one saddle so not really tandems, but you have to be impressed with how two people can ride on one of these bikes.
