Some serious bidding going on. It will be interesting to see how much she goes for. I think the 536L was the most popular size.

Yeah, it is a beauty, in apparent fine condition. Very reassuring ad copy.

At the moment, there are 8.5 days left in the auction. This will be a fun one to follow.

Best,

Dan.

As at now, 9 of the 18 bids have been put in by one person.  What is known as a nibbler.  He/she would have been better off waiting for the dying moments of the auction to bid, rather than keep bumping the price up.  Good news for the seller though.

Yes, not the way I'd go about bidding, most of the bids were two bidders slugging it out, they seem to have come to a cease fire for the time being.

How do you know that info? Sometimes I would like to make contact with the seller (other than through eBay) and have no idea how to find the details.

I have seen previous posts where helpful info has been posted but it leaves me baffled.

Would you care to enlighten me please?

Thanks

BY THE WAY, Happy New Year and thanks for all the info supplied on all the threads.

It's absolutely invaluable what I have learned on this forum albeit I'm a "sleeping" member.

...no idea how to find the details...
In the eBay listing, next to the price, you will see a blue link listing the number of bids. Click on it and you will see an anonymized listing of bidder IDs. You can see the bidding go back and forth between the4 players using the bid-increment amounts and IDs.

Best,

Dan.

If you click on "show automatic bids" you can work out how the bidding process went including automatic bids (made by ebay system up to individual bid maximums).

As shown in the screen grabbed attachment.

Thanks Dan and Mickeg,

I am now informed and understand - unlike the thread of "what's your combo" in The Living With a Rolloff section.

I have read all the posts twice and I think it's just about sinking in what with length in inches of the gearing, even tooth sprockets, ideal 17t sprocket at the back with even tooth front 36t chainring, fitting a 38t chainglider to a 36t chainring - I'm confused.com!

But I'm also getting there :-[

Appreciated

"The only stupid question is the one not asked".

 ;)

I've always asked a lot of questions.  ;D

All the best,

Dan.

The one comment that made me smile (as an ex-IT trainer) is that there is no such thing as a stupid question, but there are a lot of inquisitive idiots!  Of course there is a big difference between not knowing something, we all started life knowing nothing, and a stupid question.

I hope that you are all having a great new year, and that any Thorn you buy is incredibly cheap and any Thorn you sell you got the maximum price for!

There is something strange going on with this auction. All of the bids by one of the two bidders that were slugging it out (d***p) have disappeared, the bid total reverted to £500 which was the highest bid of (k***0) before their bidding war started (though (d***p) started bidding when the bid price was £222 with a max bid of £340). Another bidding war seems to have started again today with (6***i) having picked up the baton, at present the bid total is back up to £726 after 13 bids with 19 hours to go.

I wonder where the auction will end up, at least we know that (k***0) was prepared to go to a maximum bid of at least £1000.

Edit:

(k***0) didn't adjust his bid maximum leaving it at £1000, someone will be happy having won the auction for £1010.
