I have friends whose definition of "getting lit" had nothing to do with visibility and everything to do with alcohol in younger days.

 ;)

Best,

Dan. (...AKA "the designated driver")

On my late afternoon-early evening ride I used to see a bunch of lads out on their club ride. Regularly they stopped in a wonderful country pub that served the best beer for miles and supped a few before riding off home. I'm sure if I'd have joined them the ditch and I wolud have become instant bedfellows! 'Evening Offisher, yeth I bike off me fell into the dish'  ;)

Lights = life, dark = death (or at least a much higher probability thereof).

Re. alcohol and cycling:

Me, wheeling a bicycle erratically along the pavement (at 04:00 AM on New Year's Day)
Officer: "Where are you heading, young lad?"
Me: "Home"
Officer: "Given that it looks like your bicycle is (the only thing) holding you upright, I am not sure that you are going to make it. How far do you have to go?"
Me: "About 1/4 mile"
Officer: "Where have you come from?"
Me: "<A village about 4 miles away>"
Officer: "Oh well, that must be a very capable bicycle then. I am sure that it will get you the last 1/4 mile home."

I suspect that his last sentence was actually directed to the bicycle rather than to me.

That was nearly 40 years ago I hasten to add.
