What size mudguards (fenders) RST
« on: August 26, 2015, 12:25:58 PM »
Hi,

I have an RST with some SKS mudguards bluemels fitted, the guards were originally fitted to my Sherpa and a little wide for me RST with 1.6 supreme tires.  They have suffered recently with a incident with a kerb  :) so they need replacing.

So my question is if I wanted to replace them with something a little slicker for my 1.6 Supremes what width should I get.

All the best.

Peter

I think the original and best fitting mudguards for the RST where the sks p45 which are designed for 700 wheels but give a good fit on 26 by 1.6 tyres

Thanks Andy, I am sure the ones I have at the moment are 60mm so they look very odd indeed.  I will check out the P45's.

All the best.

Peter, if you're looking for mudguards for 26 x 1.6 Supremes, suggest you look at 650B mudguards.  I use these 52mm 650b alloy 'guards by Velo Orange on my Raven, and they offer good vertical clearance, as well as 5-6 mm on each side of the tire.  The radius is obviously slightly different, but alloy can be easily persuaded to line up properly :-)   There is a range of widths available as well as different types of finish and prices.

Hello,
No matter what size tyre or rim size, I always use P35 SKS 700 size.
They work fine and as the wet comes from centre of tyre tread keep everything clean.

RST took P45 as standard which is ok up to 1.75, the frame doesn't have clearance for anything bigger.
