Frame size code
« on: August 18, 2013, 11:31:39 PM »
Spent this afternoon with my Raven upside down, giving the old girl a once over on her bottom.

Bottle cages off and the paint work cleaned.
Brakes tweaked.
Looked at the bottom bracket and decided to buy an adjuster so I can prepare for a new chain.
Checked Schwalbes.
General poke about and dust down.

Then I noticed the frame number. I had made a note of the Rohloff hub number for security reasons but this was the first time I noted the frame number.
I am 587L... and then x5 numbers. Not sure I should put the full details here. We have had discussions on a Thorn log / owners details and security etc. And I think there was no firm conclusion?

Anyway, may I ask, what is the significance, if any of those x5 numbers?
I take it the first x4 are frame size?

What surprised me was that my frame serial number starts with C585M, my frame size is 590M.

The first part is the size on Taiwanese built frames, the second part is just a sequential number and is not date related.

Hope this helps.
