IDITAROD a novel of The Greatest Race on Earth, my huskies, when I was a couple of minutes late with their dinner, tried to eat me. And a wolf when I was down snapped it's jaws within inches of my face but backed off when I cut it with my knife. The other wolves ate it and decided I wasn't lunch yet.
