Yep! Covered completely in this link, jags: http://www.thorncycles.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=5451.msg29225#msg29225

There are gadgets you can get to allow your earbuds to hover near (rather than in) your ears, but the sound quality of the music degrades greatly. I can't/won't ride with music here 'cos I've gotta listen for what's about to run me over.  :(

All the best,

Dan.

The best headphones I have found for sport (i.e when you have issues with them falling out in the neckband ones like this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Philips-SHQ4200-ActionFit-Sports-Waterproof-And-Washable-Neckband-Headphone-/160939688423?pt=UK_AudioVisualElectronics_HomeAudioHiFi_Headphones&hash=item2578c0c1e7

The sound quality is not quite as good as buds "jammed" in your ear but they do stay in and they are much quicker to take on and off.

I am going to try some of these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SPORTS-HEADPHONES-EARPHONES-MICRO-SD-TF-MP3-MUSIC-PLAYER-FM-RUNNING-JOGGING-GYM-/170867701377?pt=UK_AudioVisualElectronics_HomeAudioHiFi_Headphones&hash=item27c8823681

That have the mp3 player built in. Really not sure about the sound quality but atlest it gets away from the wire and issues with the plug pulling out of the player

I do listen to music on the erg and also when running but not on the bike

I think the trick with the standard headphones is to get the right size of rubber cover on the ends. Too small and they are a loose fit - too big and they do not push far enough into the ear to be secure. I started on the biggest size "bung" and had issues with it falling out. I am now on the smallest size and the fit is very secure but putting them on and taking them off takes longer as they fit quite deep and secure within the ear - almost like fitting industrial ear bungs. It does have the added benefit of improving sound quality and reducing any ambient noises but quite "hard work"
