OEM axle plate on EX Box - are four screws enough?
« on: January 26, 2013, 05:46:31 PM »
New Sterling frame, changing the axle plate from the Torque Arm to OEM type..... torque up the screws (five on the EX box version) to 3Nm...... bam!!!! One screw shears off.... halfway inside the transfer box!!

Is it okay to use the unit without the full complement of five axle plate screws?

Any suggestions as to how to remove the remains of the screw, or will I need to fit a new transfer box?

Help!!

Lift off the transfer box and there will be enough of the screw sticking out to put some mole grips on.  The screws aren't really supposed to be re-used, we always change them out for new ones.
