Ouch. So sorry to hear about this. I hope the thieves get pulled over for speeding and you get your bikes back promptly & nary a scratch.

Hope fully these bikes will soon turn up on ebay, gumtree etc. I’ll repost this on to the CTC forum so that more of us are aware.
There a few stories around of people doing their own detective work after cycle thefts then handing the evidence over to the police.

Thanks for reposting on the CTC site, Joe - I'd already done it but it doesn't harm to bump it up the list again!

I'll try to attach some photos. We'd only recently acquired the me'n'u'2 triplet so no photo of that but it's pretty unmistakable! I guess when they realise that they'll just strip off the components and dump the frames.

Greenie,

What heart-breaking news!  I am so sorry for your (hopefully only temporary) loss.  The great photos only make it more "real" to we more remote readers.  Perhaps they will be just what is needed to achieve recovery; I hope so.

Empathy, sympathy, and best regards,

Dan.

We've got the red tandem back! The police caught some local lads mucking around on it in the high street this afternoon. It's a little bit trashed with some of the high quality components removed/broken eg front wheel/mudguards/child seat and there are plenty more scratches on the frame now but looks otherwise sound. Will need a bit of TLC to be roadworthy again.

Greenie,

*So glad* you have the tandem back, at least.  What a shame it has been damaged, but it will now have a story to tell, and I'm guessing you won't love it any less; probably more now it is home again!

Here's hoping the others find their way back to the fold.  Fingers crossed for you, hoping!

Thanks for the update.

Best,

Dan.

I'm afraid my black Thorn Triplet was stolen this Saturday 19 Nov in King Street Hammersmith (London). I hope it will turn up and was just joyriders.

Buyer9901,

Tragic!

I am so sorry to hear of this.  Please, can you provide some details and perhaps photos so other forum members might keep an eye out for it?

Also, can you tell us if it was locked at the time and if so, by what means?  I'm trying to get a better sense of what works to keep a bike secure in a given circumstance so if, say, a particular brand of lock proves vulnerable I can avoid it.

Again, I am surely sorry for your loss and really feel for you.  I hope it will turn up soon...

Best,

Dan.
