Has anyone used a Kindle 3G whilst on tour for emails,blogs etc,I am thinking about taking one with me next year on a world tour.Any advice would be welcome

Hi Tim!
As we speak, one of our members, PhilB (philb0412), is using a Kindle to write and update his blog as he travels to China on his Thorn Raven Tour. I believe it is the wi-fi enabled version. It seems to be working pretty well for him, though there are some limitations as he notes here:

I used One touring between Liverpool and Istanbul last year. The 3g keyboard version.
The free 3g connection worked in 90% of the places I visited.
For checking emails every night it was superb. But any amount of other web navigation drove me Insane because of the clunky interface.
The ability to hit delete easily can also be a problem when typing. That said. its pros far outweigh its cons. mine goes with me everywhere. I think a touch screen would be easier to use for web navigation. For writing more than a few sentences i would rather use a smartphone if a full size keyboard is unavailable.
If i could only take 1 gadget with me it would be a 3g kindle.
