« on: May 29, 2011, 07:10:13 AM »
good morning
i am new here and my english is not the best
i just got my girl and myself a nomad frameset made up for rohloff speedhub(we are planing a worldtour in 3-4 years)
now i am looking for a crankset and bb
it dont has to be high end and expensiv just robust and practical (and fit the rohloff chainline> axle length?)
is there any recommondation?
what cranksets/bb are you using?
thanks a lot

I went for the Thorn chainset, but treated my bike to a square taper Royce BB.

The Shimano UN54 BB is very reliable and low cost.

The Thorn crankset is good, or you could go for something like the Sugino RD2 or similar crank.  You need to determine what size and number of teeth you want for your chainring first, as it may impact on the style/size of crankset you should get.

I used the Shimano UG72 bottom bracket in a 68-113mm size, square taper axle. With the Thorn crankset, this has given me perfect chainline with the ring mounted on the inside of the crank spider.

UG72?  Did you mean UN 72?  I don't think Shimano are making the UN 72 any more.
