I am considering getting a Sterling, Trekking spec to replace a random, aging, alu trekking Specialized bike my brother has been using for years (his 40th birthday is coming). The outgoing bike has been surprisingly adequate, given the tours he does - he did Argentina/Chile, Peru, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Yemen, Iran and serveral other Middle East countries, Ladakh, Thailand, Vietnam and what not in the far East.
The problem is therefore - how much heavier will the new bike be - he likes the old bike quite a lot, and it is apparently strong enough for 1-3wk trips he normally does. Still, a shiny Thorn would still be nice for his longer trip from Thailand to Europe. What is the weight of a trekking specd Sterling?
