Wonder what the reserve is? ... I'm really only interested in the Rohloff  :o  but there are some other nice bits that would also transfer onto my 700c Tandem

There is an 'Airnimal' folder on Ebay with a Rohloff hub. It (the bike) has hardly been used. Rust on the chain. Older owner (I believe). The bike is blue and asking for offers. I offered but received no reply. Must have been too low an offer, but 'like' you I thought of the hub.

The Airnimal would be great if you were looking for a smaller wheeled hub ... Having had a closer look at this Mercury I'm not surprised there is a £1900 Buy It Now price ... It looks to have a sinewave reactor fitted, as well as SON dynamo lighting. It's a shame that he didn't get the Rohloff modified Right Hand Grip, as the brake lever position is awful! ... Will it sell for that? Too rich for my taste, and I know what they go for new.

I spent six months watching for the right Rohloff to come up on Ebay (And elsewhere), there's no logic to the prices, sometimes well used hubs sell for 80% of the new price and other times decent looking bikes fetch little more than the value of the hub.  A couple of times I bid on a bike when I only wanted the hub, I was upgrading my Alfine bike so would have swapped hubs and resold.  In the end I gave up and bought a new one from SJS when they had a bit of a sale.
I'm watching that Mercury and the Airnimal out of interest. By the look of the rims the Airnimal had a hard life for the claimed 40 miles!  I got lucky with mine, bought an immaculate example and a used but known Rohloff for far less than their opening price.
