Seasons greetings Jags.
Always good for banter and craic.

I have a question you or our others of our merry band may be able to answer.

In the run up to preparing for our Xmas dinner my butcher offer me 8 legs of venison for £50.

Do you think that's two deer?

Never drink and drive. You may hit a bump  and spill your drink

Combining the cycle paths I used on the outward journey and those used on the way home I reckon I was on cycle paths for about a third of the distance from my home in South Brittany to the Spanish frontier.

I could have planned a route that used more cycle paths, but that wasn't a specific objective for me.

In particular, there is a good network of paths in the Landes region, from the Gironde estuary more or less all the way to the Basque country. And I could have got from my home to the Loire estuary uniquely on canal towpaths.

I promise not to do any more......

It's not difficult to tell the difference between stoats and weasels.  One's weaselly recognised while the other is stoatally different.
Boom boom.

This is all getting too much.  Here's a joke from a few years back, from--of all places--our hockey dressing room.  I disclaim responsibility--'twas Matt's reference to venison which unearthed this:

So, what you have when you have fifty male deer and fifty female pigs?

A hundred sows and bucks.

Next big cycling opportunity will be in Feb/March, if you can imagine:  We are spending 2 months with our son and his family in Australia's Gold Coast.  I'm going to take my derailleur bike (it's a little lighter than my Raven) and do some day rides in the Queensland/New South Wales border country.

Have attached some photos of the countryside, two taken on a squally/rainy but beautiful day (it does rain, so you can use mudguards). There are some serious grades, as the roads cross the remains of a huge and ancient volcano (from some 24 million years back, safely extinct, so far as we know), but on the secondary roads, there's not a lot of traffic. Stories and photos to come, I hope.
