I have an Optimus Nova + with a red Primus fuel container, and have never had a problem getting a service station to fill the bottle (about 0.8l). When you turn up on a loaded touring bike and say its for cooking, they always oblige and charge only for the fuel used to fill (no minimum 2l).
Generally easier on continental Europe. OK in the UK sometimes with a bit of explaining, or move to the next petrol station not manned by a jobsworth.
I agree with PhilD28, Aspen 4 burns well, has little or no odour and environmentally better than standard unleaded petrol.

I find that unleaded petrol traces in the stove makes a stink in the panniers unless the stove is sealed in a small drybag. I carry the fuel bottle on the frame using a Bikebuddy MK3.
