Hi Anto!

I tried the BikeFlights website for a quote ( http://www.bikeflights.com/bicycle_shipping.aspx ), since I have used them for overseas bike shipments very successfully. It is basically a commercial-rate FedEx account with tracking and insurance and very reliable in my experience.

I didn't do anything fancy, just used Thorn's/SJSC's postal code TA6 5HX for the UK and 0000 as a placeholder for Ireland (which as you know won't have postal codes until 2015). I chose the bike box sized for a frame and came up with a quote for USD$101 or ~73.63 Euro for dimensions of 42x8x28in weight up to 70lbs.

Dunno if this helps or how accurate it might be, but it is a data point to consider. I have a feeling you could do it for less, though it might not be realistic to use frame-ship quotes provided by the biggest online retailers. Some of them (the ones here, anyway) have such high volume they qualify for shipping discounts unavailable to the average consumer.

Best,

Dan.

This might help, too, Anto: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056832267 Prices don't look too bad based on the posters' experience.

Fingers and toes crossed for your good luck in bidding. Currently £26.00 with just under 7 days to go.

Best,

Dan.

thanks for that link Dan,
i don't want to get into any bother with the seller on postage costs,   if it were around 30 euro i could up my bidding but I'll just wait and see how the bidding goes.

Hello Jags,

I recently found this page on "money saving expert":
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/cheap-parcel-delivery
Check out their "Best Buys" on that page, from it I successfully used:
http://www.interparcel.com/
to find the best quote at the same prices that businesses would get.
Much cheaper than what we would normally be offered.

P4D:  http://www.p4d.co.uk/   and   http://www.pharosparcel.com/   are worth a look too.

£20-£30 at a guess.

Best,
Mac.
