Hi Pete,
Yes and No?
I have got a Hope Hub on my OLD mountain bike
(1992) and still going strong
(I have not service them so far!) I have not got a new SS Bearing Hope Pro 3, But have worked on bikes that have
(and have a friend from my Africa cycle trip that used has bike fully loaded before and after his 12,000km cycle trip in Africa how is still going strong with his Hope Hubs) Hope Pro 2 and 3
(2 disc / 3 non disc) hub's the only servicing that is needed so far is a clean and relube of the freewheel.
I like them a lot and think that they are better then the
Phil Wood (which I have three? of) better bearings and there are end cap's that cover the bearings from the dirt and mud
(Why do I still run with Phil Wood hub's ) So Hope Hub's are very good and one of the best hub set's for cycle touring and mountain biking in mud too.
I have used
Chris King (made with love Be no good for cycle touring because you need CK tool's to service them).
Phil Wood are good but Do Not have bearing cover caps to keep out water and dirt!
(easy serviced on side of road with just a hammer and a few allen key's).
Hope good made in the UK
(for riding in rain and more!) easy serviced with simple tools
(if you do a 1,000,000km's with them you may need to replace the bearings?)So you have got the best and Happy Cycling with your new Thorn / Hope Bicycle
Pete Good name
