Here's a proper Muppets thread that couldn't possibly fit into a conventional Forum category...
I've recently signed on as a Like/Follower for Les Triplettes de Bonneville's Facebook page here:

While the laminated wood handlebars (!) they show are nice, I am partial to the gravity-powered Speed Bikes and jet bikes, though there's a fair amount of blogspace devoted to such things as chopper bikes, full-custom banana-seated bikes, lowrider-styled LongJan-style bakfiets cargo bikes, fantastic customs by Japan's Cherubim, and pretty much anything one could possibly imagine involving two wheels and/or speed.

Nearly everything is in French, but easily translated through Google. Most of the photos speak for themselves.
It is all mad and wonderful and I couldn't bear to leave the Forum out of the fun. Many of us have eclectic interests in things both wheeled and motorized; there's bound to be something in here that strikes a chord...even if all one has ever done toward customizing a bicycle is to employ a clothespin to hold playing cards against the spokes to make "B-r-r-r-r-r" noises while riding. Between their Facebook page and blog, Les Triplettes pretty much describe every compelling interest I've had since childhood and I enjoy it for the same reasons I used to enjoy television shows like
Mythbusters and
Top Gear (both of which seem to have become overly self-referential and victims of their own success compared to earlier efforts which seemed more full of wide-eyed Wonder).
Through Les Triplettes, I found a link to the photographer of the 1,000mph Bloodhound SSC land speed record attempt team, with photos documenting the build:
