With some sadness I am selling my Thorn Audax Limited Edition which I am hoping will fund a Thorn with Rohloff with a little help from Santa!

That looks in fantastic condition. Its faired a lot better than mine. Very nice bikes, and I still quite like the limited edition paint job, but as someone commented on an audax last year, it does seem dated now.

Hi

Firstly good luck with your sale and if successfull your new rohloff

Can I ask, as I have to admit not to being a thorn historian, why is this bike a "limited edition"

Good luck with the sale, bike looks great.

It was an upgrade to the standard blue or black paint finish, see archive page here

Dan K also a put a scanned Cycling Plus review online here.

Thanks for the compliments & luck.

Already have 20 watching and 150+ view in little over 12 hours (overnight) although I expect alot of those are other Thorn owners wanting to keep track one it to see how much it fetches.

Going down to SJS on Friday to look @ the new ones.  Hoping the price beats the Cannondale Bad Boy Rohloff & disc brakes I have on trial!!

When I was first looking for a Rohloff bike I looked at the Cannondale Bad Boy but the servicing of the Headshok suspension scared me away.

From the manual "HEADSHOK SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE It is recommended that you take your mountain or cyclocross HeadShok fork to your Authorized HeadShok Service Center for a regular tune up every two months or 40 hours of riding. It is recommended that you take your Silk Road fork to your Authorized HeadShok Service Center for a regular tune up every three months or 60 hours of riding"

That would have meant approximately 10 services per year for me!!

I looked at servicing myself and that was even more off putting

Which Thorn are you thinking of getting?

Blacksail,  thank you for that info, I will take that into consideration.  The challenge is going to be the very good price offered for the Bad Boy.

Would like to buy a Raven Sports Tour with Rohloff and a couple of upgrades if budget allows!  I am riding an End to End (John O' Groats to Lands' End) in July to raise some money on to say thank you to the hospital that has been looking after my niece who has leukaemia.  To make the challenge easier I have ended spending a good deal of my own holiday money already (Garmin etc)!!

Used the Audax LE for the Ride for Precious Lives (St Austell to Bristol) last year and really enjoyed the ride despite it being a bit small.

Fingers crossed I'll get a good price from eBay and SJS/Thorn will be kind to me too!
