The answer depends on what mix of loaded vs credit card touring you do, and what other bikes you have available.
I've had a Club Tour since 2003, and have really enjoyed riding it, but I would probably have been better off with a Brevet (predecessor of the Audax) as I haven't done a lot of loaded touring, and the extra weight of the Club Tour is quite noticeable, even after upgrading some of the parts.
(The fact that I am 7 years older than when I bought it might also be a factor, I guess. I seem to have a bit more more trouble keeping up with the group now than I did a few years ago.)
On the other hand, the Club Tour is indestructible, and can take 37mm tyres with room to spare, so it can cope with any sort of road, and mild off-road. Just make sure your wheels are up to it!
The Club Tour is very comfortable, too, does a great job of soaking up vibration and small bumps.
If you go this way, I'd specify the XT chainset, the BR-R550 brakes, and the XT/DT-Swiss wheels. All expensive, but lighter and stronger than the standard items.
As far as fitting goes, the 2 important measurements are top tube length and standover height. You can adjust for the TT length to some extent by playing with the stem length, but there is nothing you can do about a bike that is too tall for comfort. So measure your inside leg, and make sure that you will be able to straddle the bike you choose.
