s & s couplings
« on: September 05, 2010, 10:48:13 PM »
I've noticed on the Roberts cycles price list that they can fit S&S couplings to your own frameset.  Just wandering if it would be possible on my Sherpa, it would save some cash and get round the problem of SJS cycles no longer offering EXp handbuilt stuff.

Has anyone had any dealings with Roberts? does it sound like good thing to do to your frame? just wandering if by adding the couplings you might somehow weaken a sherpa frame as they were not fiitted from new.  I'm reluctant to ask SJS as they are likely to put me off dealing with Roberts!!

You can get S&S couplings retro fitted to steel (or titanium) frames at custom frame builders.

The coupled frame is stronger but will need a repaint after as fitting the couplings will require brazing temperatures - an opportunity to get other touring braze-ons added or changed before the repaint.

It is worth asking SJS for their advice.
