bottom bracket issues
« on: October 30, 2009, 02:13:46 PM »
Hi there,
I am fitting a jp400 (68mm*113mm) bottom bracket and stronglight impact chainset to my Sherpa. I have a Shimano SLX front mech. However, the inner chainring is too close to the frame for the front mech, the chain knocks off the inner plate when on the inner ring, no matter what ring the chain is on the cassette. (This is not a case of adjusting the mech screws). Should I use BB spacers to push the chainset further from the frame? If so, any recommendations on what spacers to use?

I know that Shimano BB comes with spacers and they are required. I haven't come across any information on stronglight BB spacers though.

The non-drive side bearing cup is sticking out maybe 3mm so I have room to play. Any advice would be appreciated.

regards
Martin
