Why won't the SKS P65 fit? They work with Big Apple 622x60, which are the ne plus ultra of 29erdom. I've used that combo for near enough ten years and been very satisfied with the serviceability of both.

Andre, hi, Thanks for your interest.  I might not have mentioned the bike will have suspension forks, which limits the options. The SKS P65 have wire stays, which may catch debris so makes them unsuitable when I venture off  the smooth stuff. Alternatives mudguards are SKS Shockblades/Shockboards https://www.sks-germany.com/en/products/shockblade-28-29-zoll/ no have stays, thought not Ideal, as sit high
The guards on the old bike are Zefal Deflectors http://www.zefal.com/en/mudguards-mtb/71-deflector-rm29.html, wrong name ,sorry, (a bit of a , a red-herring). They are very good, but are not quick release.

First wheel built, still needs fine running now I have borrowed stand. 1-2 mm play radially &. Laterally to take out. Tomorrow should be ready to fit tubeless tyres (gulp)
