Ergon GP5 and brake levers
« on: February 09, 2015, 02:58:30 PM »
I currently use Avid AP3 levers with my Ergon GP5s. The Avids are 'shorties' and seem to work very well using two fingers. There is limited space available for hand movement owing to the GP5's grip shape, my hands and the position of the 'horns' Bearing that in mind: I was wondering if using a 'standard' brake lever such as a Shimano LX Deore was possible or desirable. If you are using GP5's which levers are you using?  I think Bikerta has GP5s?

Although I am no-longer using the GP5 grips
they definitely worked fine with Shimano XTR "V" brake levers (that are basically also two-finger operation).
But I am not sure how they would work with Avid brakes.

Yes I do have the GP5's and they are absolutely fine for me with Shimano Deore BL M591 V Brake Levers.

I have GP5's and Deore LX levers they work fine.  I have never really thought about it until your post, but I do have my horns elevated to the brake levers.  But I can't image they would ever interfere with each other.
